________________________________________________ futura art show September 14, 2008 ________________________________________________ comments September 14, 2008 it's time once again for a session of MIKE RESPONDS TO FAN COMMENTS :) in response to the W.O.W. art post... POSTED BY LEIZA
wowza. that's just amazing. i wish i had skills like that... makes me jealous of people who can paint realisticly. and about "lost in translation"... you might appreciate this mike...http://www.engrish.com//wp-content/uploads/2008/08/smoking-concert.jpg MIKE SAYS: "tasty lighter is not drive," ha! incredibly, i think i've seen more designs like this than i'd care to admit in japan and korea. my brother once saw a sign in the subway in japan that was meant to tell people not to sit in a certain area, but instead said "please, no shitting here" POSTED BY MAX_PAYN
I have a really important question, this is really important, Mike. A Korean artist named "Nancy lang" (or rang? I don't know) insists that she created the album art of 'Reanimation'. I don't know whether she used alias or used her real name, anyway she is a Korean female pop artist. She insists that she was requested to participate in the cover art of 'Reanimation' by Warner Bros., and she created the cover art. Is that true? Then howcome there is no name of her in the album credits? Though I don't believe her, I need to know is this true.
She is using likinpark's name for her fame. Please tell me is that true Mike? Was the cover art of 'Reanimation' created by this Korean artist? MIKE SAYS: not true...i did the art. i also basically do not post anywhere online except here and linkinpark.com, and i don't send fans direct emails, so if you're heard otherwise, you are being deceived... Or Brad with his Lvl. 5 Headphones of Silence...I heard those are rare and hard to come by MIKE SAYS: hilarious!!! hahaha

PS, we're nominated for an MTV VMA for best rock video. thanks to everyone who voted

This will be the second half of the show that just concluded in LA this month. To celebrate the show, I've partnered with WeMix.com, a site partially created by Ludacris; it's a place for new musicians to collaborate, and a place for fans to discover new up-and-coming artists. I have a new contest up there right now. Using my GLXS art as a theme, go to WeMix.com, upload your original songs, beats, vocals. I'm going to pick my 5 favorite songs, and then the WeMix community will vote for the winner. The winner will go straight into the studio to record a full version of their song. I'll join you to personally help out. A: we ran into some snags with getting their record out. the album is done, but some of the behind-the-scenes legal/record label stuff turned into a mess. long story short, the guys are hanging in there. keep in touch with styles of beyond at: http://www.myspace.com/stylesofbeyond make sure to check out "don't feel bad"(featuring RZA of Wu Tang Clan). incidentally, SOB/demigodz have some new t-shirts up that are incredible. get 'em!

___________________________________________ PROJEKT REVOLUTION BOSTON July 17, 2008 a portion of the review of the 1st projekt revolution show in boston... LINKIN PARK PROJEKTS IMAGE OF SUCCESS "It takes titanic theatrics to wow a crowd before the sun goes down, and Busta Rhymes’ set was adequately animated. On “Scenario,” which dropped before many in the crowd were born, and through more recent cuts such as “Break Ya Neck,” Rhymes touched ladies without alienating guys. The man doesn’t just rap, he miraculously manipulates his mind, mouth and microphone. Brooklyn’s The Bravery opened with its barroom anthem, “Believe,” and worked through the hilariously titled “Every Word From Your Mouth Is a Knife In My Ear.” Ex-Soundgarden and Audioslave front man Chris Cornell followed with a strong hour of old and new material, from “Black Hole Sun” to songs off his upcoming third solo disc. Cornell’s cool Euro look and hard, angelic vocals still get girls gushing and guys envying - especially when Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington joined him for Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike.” Aside from the obligatory light display and a colorful intro by the percussionist trio Street Drum Corps,Linkin Park came with no gimmicks - just a recognizable catalogue 10 times deeper than the band’s early critics would have ever imagined. It’s hard to admit this, but watching Linkin Park tear up their set last night led to one conclusion: The California-born rap-rockers have evolved into everything a stadium band should be: anomalously audible, sincere and, most importantly, metaphysically connected to their maniacal fans. Linkin Park, with Busta Rhymes, Chris Cornell, The Bravery and others. At the Comcast Center, Mansfield, last night." entire article here: http://news.bostonherald.com ___________________________________________ introducing... (thanks for dropping by, fellas) http://www.thehundreds.com/wordpress/ coverage to come on current tv and juxtapoz. BTW, some images of the art are floating around...it's too bad you can't really get a feel for the pieces from the images online. most of the pieces are around three to four feet tall. the one that you see on the splash page (and the background here) is called "ICON." as you can tell in the close-up shot, there's a ton of detail that you miss when you're not standing in front of the actual piece. ICON is 8 feet tall by 6 feet wide, slightly metallic, and made up of thousands of dollar signs. yes, i placed each one by hand. the show is open at the japanese american national museum now through august 3rd. please drop by and check it out. ___________________________________________ glorious success July 12, 2008 i'm going to be on a plane tomorrow, and playing shows for the next few days, so i don't know if i'll be able to write. just wanted to say a huge thank you to: -all the people who helped make "GLORIOUS EXCESS (BORN)" happen
